WHAT WE DO

Active in the community

In recent years, Raleigh Sertoma members have:

  • Supported the BEGINNINGS Grants to Parents Program through grants from Sertoma Inc., the NC Sertoma Endowment Fund and local fundraising efforts. We value our longstanding partnership with all of these organizations.
  • Helped install a hearing loop in the Durham VA Medical Center Chapel -- enabling veterans to more clearly hear services directly through their personal hearing devices.
  • Distributed “SAFEEars” educational information at health fairs to help individuals learn more about why they should protect their hearing.
  • Donated two classroom audio systems to local elementary schools, so that every child will hear every word in the classroom.
  • Helped nearly 100 Deaf and hard of hearing children attend the weeklong Camp Sertoma for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children.
  • Provided 100 Audible portable hearing devices to Wake County Emergency Medical Services - one for each ambulance!

Monthly projects

Each month throughout the year, our members collect and contribute needed items to other nonprofit organizations directly serving local people, including:

  • Backpacks and back-to-school items for local children.
  • Quilts, puzzles and nonperishable food for veterans.
  • Homemade goods and other snacks for our local police.
  • Holiday gifts and after-school snacks for local children.
  • Staffing the Salvation Army Angel Tree.
  • Supporting the efforts of Freedom Ride Rescue, so that "No Paws Left Behind."
  • ... and much more!

Join us!

Join us for an upcoming meeting. We meet at 6:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month at Olive Garden on Capital Boulevard in Raleigh. For more information, contact us at info@RaleighSertoma.org.

Raleigh Sertoma  is a huge supporter of BEGINNINGS for Parents of Children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.   BEGINNINGS  helps parents and families better understand the diverse needs of their deaf or hard of hearing children.  Pictured is BEGINNINGS Executive Director Diane Doak receiving a check from Raleigh Sertoma President Deedy Neville in the amount of $4,000, funded by Sertoma Inc.'s grants to clubs program and matched dollar for dollar by the Raleigh Sertoma Club.
